Hi and welcome to my world of angling from another angle – mine! I’m a wheelchair-using angler who’s had a passion for angling for over 50 years. Despite my disability, I fish whenever (and wherever) I can. Access can be a big issue for me, but with my trusty fish-mad buddies, I usually manage to get where I want to be.
I’m a man on a mission to get myself round the whole of England (to start with!) to check out venues all over the country from a disabled angler’s point of view. I want to fish one venue in every county and plan to split my trip up into 4/5 sections – simply because I’ll be too exhausted to manage the whole trip in one hit! However, if someone’s willing to sponsor the whole thing, I’ll fish 42 venues in 42 days as long as I can be compensated and raise some money for charity while I’m doing it!
I’m tired of being told “You can’t do this/that because…. you’re in a wheelchair!” and not being able to find enough disabled-friendly waters via the WWW, so I decided to take the bull by the horns and find out for myself. I have a Motorhome to get myself round the country in (handy ‘cos I’ve got my own private loo too!), so I won’t need much money to make this trip happen. I shall report every day I’m on the road or fishing, to my wife and she’ll update the blog for me!
So I’m trying to raise £1500 in sponsorship to get this show on the road. Any helpers out there?!! By the way, did I mention, by hook or by crook, I’m going to Mauritius next year to fish in the Marlin World Cup? Well, I am….

Best of luck with your trip – it sounds like a wonderful challenge and a great opportunity to raise a lot of awareness about disability issues.
Thanks Nicola – here’s hoping! I’m crossing everything I can
