On the Waterfront!

That’s where I spent a short interlude this morning! In Bude, beside the canal, there’s a first-class tackle shop which caters for all anglers – a small slice of angling heaven! It’s actually in the gardens of the Waterfront Centre and here’s the front of the shop…

I forgot to mention that he also sells guns! Anyway, it’s an amazingly well-stocked shop, absolutely stuffed with goodies whether you’re after game, sea or coarse tackle and supplies. Service is cheerful and friendly and local knowledge can be gleaned from the proprietor. He’s also helping me in my bid to get to Mauritius next year…

And there’s more…

It’s great, isn’t it? I know I’m being very ambitious wanting to do this Road Trip and hoping that someone will be intrigued enough to sponsor me, but at the moment, I’m not really known enough, so I think the first stage on my journey (after some discussion) will be to start locally. I’m going to approach every fishery in the South West (Devon, Cornwall & Somerset initially) and see if they’d like me to fish their water, photograph and film it for my guide, and put it on the website and blog. That way, I may earn my stripes and gain some momentum for the Marlin World Cup challenge next year in the meantime.

I shall be talking to a lady from the North Devon Journal soon about my mission(s), so I’ll let you know what happens! If they put a story on their website, I can even link to it. ;)

  5. Very useful post, thanks a lot. Nice blog as well! I might start my own blog soon, do you have any tips? Whats the best host to use, WordPress or Blog engine? Restaurant Devon

  6. I know this post is quite old now, but did you find sponsors in the end? Are you still managing to fulfil your ambition!?

  7. Hiya,

Finding any sponsorship has been a Nightmare…I managed to get some tackle sponsorship from Stuart and he still supports me in his own way and a large tackle company helped out, but as for serious sponsorship to achieve things and bring Reels on Wheels into the limelight so to speak has not happened.

Never mind we just keep on plodding away in the hope that one day somebody will say…”we have some cash for you”

    Thanks for asking anyway…

    Nick
