Successful outing for Darren and Sid!

I just got off the phone with a gentleman called Sid Hunt who rang to thank Reels on Wheels for changing his life! I knew about Sid’s predicament from the wife, who had spoken to him on the phone while I was away.
Sid is 70 years young and lives in Bury, Lancashire and of course, [...]

The many faces of Reels on Wheels!

I’ve thanked everyone who supported me at Peterstone Fishery during last weekend’s last attempt to win the Wales Carp Masters qualifier, either in person, or on the various forums – especially our own! Here are a few pics of the Team, comprising Zenia (our runner), Joe Drury (my Buddy) and myself, for your enjoyment!

That’s [...]

Dilham Fishery, Norfolk

This post is from Karen Clark – Reels on Wheels East Anglia volunteer for Norfolk… and we thank her!
I stumbled across this fishery about a month ago in the Wroxham Angling tackle shop window. While talking to Martin (the owner), about Reels-on-Wheels and disabled-friendly fisheries, I had a brainwave! The fishery had only been open for [...]

Wales Carp Masters…

As most of you know, Nick and Joe are fishing the last Peterstone Fishery qualifier this weekend as Team Reels on Wheels…

From the bank:
He’s just phoned to say that the weather has changed – it’s red hot and the wind is behind them. The lake in front of them is like a millpond and there [...]

Off to Wales!

That was Nick yesterday, sitting in the fully loaded Buddy Bus, having a last laugh and a joke with our DD as she snapped a few photos for posterity (not really, just the blog!). He was really happy and looking forward to his return to Peterstone Fishery in Newport.
He left at normal o’clock for a [...]

The Manderson Trust

Claire Pearce, one of our East Anglian reps, went to the Manderson Trust waters last Sunday and she wrote all about it on the forum HERE, complete with photos… Nick spoke to the Trust’s Secretary, Andy Duffy at length on the phone on Monday and is arranging a visit there on the return journey home [...]

Aston Park Fisheries

I was invited to Aston Park Fisheries by Ian Cloke who writes for Anglers Times. Ian is registered disabled himself so he is keen to promote Reels on Wheels. When you arrive at Aston Ponds you drive past the first two ponds up the lane to then find three more ponds and a sign saying Aston [...]

Des and I get rained off again!

Well the weather has played havoc with my plans yet again and yesterday when I was on my way to Kidderminster, having left Barlow Lakes (sadly!), I had to pull off the Motorway at Tamworth services because it was raining so hard, I couldn’t see the road in front of me!
I took the opportunity to [...]

Barlow Lakes

Nick phoned me from Barlow Lakes to say he’d arrived safely, met Kevin Miles (Anglers Times and the Angling Star) and was enjoying a complete tour of the fishery with Ian Cloke (Slacklines – Disherman’s View). He’d seen the breeding ponds and hatchery and was fishing into the late evening with Kevin and his wife.
He [...]
