Fishathon

A few weeks ago Steve (allthegearnoidea) came up with the wonderful idea of a seven day sea fishing ‘Fishathon’ and within six or so weeks he had organized this event to take place at Holyhead breakwater on Anglesea, getting people involved raising awareness and gaining some raffle prizes all in this short space of time.

 

The event started on August bank holiday Monday and finished the following weekend, and from all reports those who made it to the event had a wonderful time, and raised a fair few pounds to help Reels On Wheels with our work. I’m just sorry I couldn’t attend as bad health stopped me driving that far. Here are the Hardcore Group who were there for the entire week:

 

Some of the highlights of the week appear to have been when a grandmother brought her grandson and a friend along for the day and with the help of Steve and the other anglers they managed to catch about twenty fish between them. Steve received an Email from the grand mother saying “the boys can’t stop talking about the day, pardon the pun they are ‘Totally Hooked’ and described the day as ‘Totally Cool” so it seems a couple more young people have joined the ranks of Anglers.

 

Also a catch of a large lobster which provided dinner for the hardy anglers.

And finally the biggest wrasse of the week went to a first time angler, who apparently was so happy with his catch he couldn’t stop talking about it.

 

So all in all despite an attendance which was lower than expected, it seems that Steve organised a great event, everyone at Reels On Wheels is immensely proud of all the effort he put in and look forward to his next event.

 

The next event that Steve is already planning (does this man ever rest?) is a coarse fishing event at a lake local to him, where he will be splitting the money raised between Reels On Wheels and a local hospital which provided amazing support to a friends family when their young toddler sadly passed away. More details will be posted about this event nearer the time.
