Angling Tournaments
September 24, 2007 by disabledangler
As a competitive person, I am no different to any able-bodied angler who dreams of some day fishing an event like the Marlin World Cup, for example. The most basic difference is that I use wheels to get around because of my degenerative illness.
I want to fish the Marlin World Cup 2008 for these reasons:
At the moment, I still have my legs, which will help me to fight any awesome fish I’m lucky enough to hook into. In the future, I am assured by my doctor that I face amputation of one, if not both my legs.
I shall be the first disabled angler ever, in their history, to participate in the Marlin World Cup.
I aspire to inspire other people in similar situations to go for it! To live life, make your dreams become a reality - because life is too short for regrets and there’s no such word as “can’t” ![]()
If somebody helps me and my Buddy/Carer to get there, the resulting publicity will be a marketing man’s dream… I shall do live TV/Radio interviews, webcam, record the entire experience on film for a DVD, write articles, publish photos, wear my sponsor(s) clothing/name continuously, eat their cereal, whatever!
Time is running out for confirmed entry into next year’s event and I need £6800 ($13892 US) to cover our costs. If you share my vision or would like to help/sponsor me, please donate or get in touch.
